When children transfer from the Woodfield Infant School, they will join one of three parallel Year 3 classes. To ensure the transition from KS1 to KS2 runs smoothly, we have a transition package that enables children to feel settled in at St George’s, prior to their starting date.
As part of the transition, Year 3 teachers work closely with staff at Woodfield Infant school, spending time getting to know children and understanding where they are in their learning journey. There will be an opportunity for Year 3 teachers to visit children at the Infants schools and for children to have a changeover afternoon in their new class at St George’s.
In addition to getting to know their Year 3 teacher, time is arranged for children to visit the school for performances and for assemblies to help them settle into St George’s school.

Walking Safely To and From School Independently
“As part of Walk to School Week, St George’s Junior School and Woodfield Infant School Safer Schools Committee have created a document for you to read. This is to support your children’s safe journey walking to and from school.
The information provided in the document has been endorsed by RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) and will serve as a reminder for the ‘Stepping Out’ course your child will have taken part in during Year 3.”Walking Safely to and from School Independently
